SUMMARY:Tuesday Evening Interfaith Meditation, Chanting, & Song Service with Saint Mark’s (In-Person & Online)
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday, June 9th 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm in Saint Mark’s Cathedral main sanctuary, 1245 10th Ave E, Seattle. Those unable to attend in-person are also welcome to tune in via the livestream on Saint Mark’s YouTube channel ( https://www.youtube.com/@saintmarksseattle ).\nClear Mountain and Saint Mark’s invite you to a special night of interfaith harmony at St. Mark’s Cathedral in the spirit of Taizé ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taiz%C3%A9_Community ) with a gathering of meditation, chants from the Pāḷi Canon, Christian song, and readings from both traditions. The gathering explores parallels between Christian “Fruits of the Spirit” and traditional Buddhist virtues. Inspired by Thich Nhat Hanh’s “Living Buddha, Living Christ”, the gathering represents the friendship of the Clear Mountain & Saint Mark’s communities.”\nFrom St. Mark’s Cathedral:\n“Tonight’s prayer service meditates on the parallels between each “fruit of the Spirit” and a corresponding “Dhamma” from Buddhist scripture. Each section is prefaced with a brief background to the concepts, and one Reading and one Chant are paired with each fruit of the Spirit or Dhamma.”\nSaint Mark’s Event Calendar\nParking\nThose driving may enter the campus at the north between the cathedral and the St. Nicholas Building – the location of the Gage Academy and Seattle Amistad School. They may then drive all the way to the back of the cathedral. Parking is free for Clear Mountain attendees even though signs in the lot indicate payment is required. If the “carriage gateway” behind the St. Nicholas building is open, participants are encouraged to park there. We encourage the use of public transportation when convenient, and the Seattle bus #49 stops at the corner of 10th Ave. and E Galer, just north of the meeting place. \n
